Finding Peace

FINDING PEACE

entranced
I watched them

their murmurs
cumbersome

reluctant was she
to answer

her hands
holding a map

his eyes strayed
to where I hid

pelts, we had
his senses, we needed

dense smoke
cemented the deal

Life in the Pits

LIFE IN THE PITS

Through the din of silence
and the undulation of inactivity
the coats of many colors stood
motionless, awaiting their fate.

CLANG – CLANG – CLANG – CLANG – CLANG
signaled the end of indecision.
Voices and arms raised,
their options were up for grabs.
