Dusk

DUSK

Ribbons of pink and purple
rest on distant horizon,
crickets and bullfrogs singing
lullaby of
evening contentment.

Gone is the noise of the day.
Tomorrow, nowhere in sight.
Only now.

Seaworthy

SEAWORTHY

the time had come
to pull up anchor;
yet as captain, my strength
to stand at the helm
was lacking; the fear, palpable

tugs came alongside
guiding, supporting,
keeping me from drifting;
the rocky coast,
shrinking into the distance

with an endless horizon
of possibilities
in front of me,
I AM steady and strong
once again
