Last week we talked about a cure for sin…Jesus!
So – what is it that Jesus offers us? We brain-stormed a pretty awesome list:
- salvation
- new beginnings
- redemption
- peace
- deliverance
- freedom
- hope
- love
- a future
- forgiveness
- life
- a way out
- reconciliation
- a return to form (*in a previous week, “sin” was described as being “outside the form”)
Exciting, huh!?
1 Timothy 2:5 says there is only one way for reconciliation with God – and that is through our mediator, Jesus Christ.
He is our mediator…advocate…salvation…AND “destroyer”!!
No – Jesus is not out to destroy US. He is determined to destroy the works of the devil (see 1 John 3:8). The word “destroy” in this context means “loose.” When we confess our sins, turn to Christ (and return to form), reconciled to God…the devil’s grip on us is loosened and we are freed from the stronghold of sin.
Isn’t that GOOD NEWS!? We can be free, indeed.
