(a double shadorma)

One by one
they arrived: Moms and
Dads; brothers
and sisters;
friends and family gathered
to say their goodbyes.

One by one
they marched from the room:
brave soldiers,
ready to
serve with pride. We let them go…
from sight, but not thoughts.
