Love It A Latte

LOVE IT A LATTE

English: Wet Cappuccino with heart latte art

These thoughts
are keeping me awake, or was it
a cup of caffeine a
few too many hours too late?
Of all
my vices, coffee is one
favorite that will not be among the
things I will be giving up.

Inspired by Carry On Tuesday’s prompt #168 to use all or part of a line from the Sound of Music:  “These are a few of my favorite things.” I chose to use the words in a sentence acrostic.  I’ve also posted this poem for Day 41 at “100 Days of Summer” — click here to go to their Facebook page.

    1. Thank you, Laurie! I wrote something not that long ago that had a lot of “my favorite things” in it, so instead of using the phrase (from the prompt) I picked ONE thing to write about. And….since I was sippin’ on my latte at the time, it came together in a flash. 🙂

    1. ViV – I’m glad you’re enjoying my short poems. Time doesn’t afford me much more than that as I’m trying to post daily.

*hugs* (and thanks for stopping by)

  1. Well, you know me and caffeine! The only close contender is bacon. My DIL, who is in Vermont being interviewed, said her breakfast buffet allowed her to eat all the bacon she wanted. Lovely. Drat. Now I want coffee and bacon.

My favourite acrostics are the ones I don’t notice ’til pointed out!

    1. Mmm…bacon… 😉

I hadn’t ever considered this kind of an acrostic until your “Tryout” earlier this summer. And the sentence for this particular prompt is so recognizable, I didn’t want to use it in a conventional way. So…back to your Tryout I went (to confirm what kind of an acrostic it was). 🙂

  2. if it has never kept you awake before, it’s not your coffee! And forget decaf – if you really like your coffee, you won’t like decaf at all! When I can’t sleep, I take 3 deep yoga-type ‘belly breaths’, and feel my body relax. Then I chant (to myself) “in with the good, out with the bad” in time with my breathing. It works for me!

    1. I’ve only recently discovered them…and I, too, like the subtlety of them. I thought especially for this so-familiar phrase, it would work well.

      (and yes…I agree…NEVER….) 😉
