Love Potion #49

LOVE POTION #49

no hocus-pocus witchcraft
simple alchemy sprinkled
with matchmaking acumen

gauging their interests
(he: her supple skin, she: his furry chin)
observing their traits
(tender hearted, full of joy)

Cupid gets to work

sweetness to balance acidity
juices poured into the dry places
oil where things get stuck

He sweeps her off her feet
once again.

  1. Paula, I love it! I like the witchcraft/alchemy connection that opens the poem. And that stanza with acidity, juices, and oil – you used those words so well there – it made me smile. 🙂 A delightful read.
