Inspiring Dreams

For what would you ask, if granted one wish?
Perhaps you would request time off to fish.

…wouldn’t that be alluring?

Some fairy tale wishes make others wince:
to be woken from sleep, kissed by a prince.

…yet, some would say enchanting.

Others may wish for a way to forget:
to eat the lotus would be their sure bet.

…oh, if mythical stories were true!

Still others may be devious or bold:
wishing for slim torsos, to be un-old.

…they would find a kinship with many!

Tell me your wish, what strange thing will you ask?
My wish would be for one up to the task!

…it doesn’t hurt to dream!

Written for The Sunday Whirl, prompt #8, using the 12 words from the wordle.

    1. Ha! 😀 My prize is that I actually used all the words! This one challenged me more than the others. But then again…I didn’t get to it until after a full day’s work (a rarity on a Sunday for me)…I’m pooped! 😉 Thanks, as always, for the great wordle challenge!

  1. Ahh, all those wishes, especially the ones about slim torsos and being unold. This was fun to read and made me smile. Really good use of the wordles words,

  2. Clever structure! I love how you used the words, Paula. Didn’t even notice the rhyme til half-way through I was having so much fun with the poem.

  3. Paula, clever and fun. You get extra points for using “alluring” with fishing – that’s a great pun! I also like “un-old” – that’s a dream a lot of people have. Thanks for this. Great writing.

    1. Mike…thank you. Your words always encourage and challenge me. As for a “new poetry form”–that’s what happens when you don’t follow ANY rules!! …I just make it up as I go! LOL. But seriously…thank you. ~Paula
