Mind The Gap   2 comments

MIND THE GAP

At
five
and nine
we were worlds
apart and fought all
the time. However, as we grew
older, the gap closed, and sisters became friends for life.

A Little While…   8 comments

A LITTLE WHILE…

That’s not long to wait,
until a diagnosis is pending
or a loved one needs surgery,
then the suffering is unending.

A little while…
that’s just a short time.
Until it’s a life in the balance.
Oh, how I wish it was mine.

A little while…
that’s all we’ve had together,
it’s not nearly enough.
But this storm, we’ll weather.

A little while…
I remember, that’s all it took
for my heart to be flooded
with love…a smile, one look.

A little while…
that’s not long to wait.
We’ll soon be together again,
my best friend, my soulmate.

Dedicated to a friend and his soulmate.

Inspired by Carry On Tuesday’s prompt #173 to use all or part of first line of a poem by Charlotte Bronte’s little sister Emily Jane: “A little while, a little while.”

I’ve also posted this poem for Day 75 at “100 Days of Summer” — click here to go to their Facebook page.
